Melda “Boots” A. Tracy, 92

Melda “Boots” Anne Tracy, age 92, formerly of Austin, Minnesota, died Monday, Nov. 7, 2016, at Glencoe Regional Health Services in Glencoe, Minnesota.

Melda was born March 31, 1924, in Alliance, Nebraska, to Charles and Marie (Duhon) Mracek. She graduated high school and went on to serve in the United States Army as a technician assistant from March 1945 to July 1946. Boots married Burton Tracy in Denver, Colorado, on July 3, 1946. After their marriage, they moved to Tomah, Wisconsin, then to Sleepy Eye, Minnesota, and in 1953, they made their home in Austin where she worked at the “Clean Towel.”

Boots was a member of First United Methodist Church. She was an active volunteer, helping at the hospital auxiliary coffee shop, the VFW and KSMQ. Boots enjoyed caring for her great-grandchildren and she loved gardening and traveling to Nebraska, Wisconsin, and Branson, Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Burton in 2001; brothers Marion and James Mracek; and two infant siblings.

Boots is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: LaVaughn and Ronald Mullenbach, Brownsdale, Minnesota; grandsons, Troy and Misty Mullenbach, Fountain Hills, Arizona, and Jeff and Linda Mullenbach, Glencoe; great-grandchildren, Jordan Mullenbach, Ronni Mullenbach, Taylor Bordelon and Jade Wilde; great-great-grandchildren, Adalyn Bordelon and Garrett Mullenbach; and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 14, at the Clasen-Jordan Mortuary Chapel with the Reverend Dennis Tamke officiating. Interment will be at Grandview Cemetery. Visitation will be at the mortuary for one hour before the service on Monday morning.
