ANOKA — Prosecutors have charged a 24-year-old man with shooting another man and then leading authorities on a chase through the northern Minneapolis suburbs that ended with police shooting the suspect.
Castle Rogers Ahlbeck of Brooklyn Park is charged with first-degree assault of an officer, second-degree assault, possession of a firearm by an ineligible person and fleeing police, all felonies.
According to the complaint, Ahlbeck shot a man in the leg outside a gas station in East Bethel Thursday, over a drug deal.
Authorities say Ahlbeck fled law officers at speeds over 100 mph before crashing into a squad car on Highway 10 in Anoka. Ahlbeck ran away and was shot by a Coon Rapids police officer.
Bail for Ahlbeck is set at $700,000. His next hearing is set for Dec. 19.
