The No. 6 seeded Lyle-Pacelli volleyball team didn’t waste a lot of time in grabbing momentum as it swept No. 11 seeded Glenville-Emmons (1-21 overall) by scores of 25-12, 25-4, 25-11 in a Section 1A West tournament match in Pacelli Monday.

The Athletics (11-14 overall) jumped out to a big lead in all three sets, thanks to the serving of Brooke Walter, who had eight aces, and Faith King, who had a 12-point serving run in the second set.

LP senior Bethany Strouf had 11 kills in her final home match, as the Athletics will travel to No. 6 Medford 7 p.m. Thursday.

“It’s kind of hard to believe [this was my last home match]. It went by so fast. I just wanted to have fun and pick my team up,” Strouf said. “We definitely have some things to work on in the next couple of days, but I think we’ll have a good shot on Thursday.”

LP hadn’t competed in a week and head coach Lauren Cost was glad to get her team back on the court to do some fine tuning.

“We’ve been trying to adjust a few things in practice and you can’t always replicate the game situation with the adrenaline and the competition,” Cost said. “It was nice to be able to do that.”

LP was swept by Medford Sept. 13.

LP stats: Bethany Strouf, 11 kills; Brooke Walter, 8 ace serves, 15 set assists; Olivia Christianson, 5 kills
