Autumn is one of two favorite times of year, second only to winter — yes I’m that weird one.

The oppressive humidty is gone, replaced by crisp temperatures and even crisper apples.

The smells and sights are particular to this time of year and set it apart like none other.

But more than anything are the colors. Only in fall can the life of one season be replaced in death by such bright colors.

While not the Appelation Mountains or even northern Minnesota, Austin has more than enough opportunities to see these colors, especially in places like the Jay C. Hormel Nature Center.
