Joyce L. Wells, 84, formerly of LeRoy, Minnesota, died Monday, Oct. 3, 2016, at Adams Health Care Center in Adams, Minnesota.

Joyce Louise was born May 30, 1932, in Spokane, Washington, to Raymond and Viola (Megquier) Beard. As a child, Joyce’s family moved to San Diego, California. On May 20, 1950, Joyce was united in marriage to James Dwain Wells in San Diego. Following Jim’s retirement from his military career in 1967, they moved from San Diego to Rochester, Minnesota. In August of 1973 Joyce and Jim moved to LeRoy, Minnesota, where they owned and operated the bowling alley for several years. They later moved back to Rochester where they were involved in hotel management. Following Jim’s death in 1996, Joyce returned to LeRoy where she lived with her sons.

Joyce is survived by her children Donald Wells and Reginald Wells, both of LeRoy, Minnesota, and Illa Watson of Belleville, Illinois; four grandchildren Kevin Wells, Crystal (Sam) Siskow, Amanda Watson, and Matthew Watson; four great-grandchildren; sister Patricia Williamson of Longview, Washington; several nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Raymond and Viola (Megquier) Beard; brothers Toby Beard and Phil Beard; brother-in-law Bruce Williamson.

No local services are being planned at this time. Interment will be in the Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego, California, at a later date. Arrangements by Worlein Funeral Home of Austin. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.worlein.com.
