Winhawks sweep Packer volleyball team

The Austin volleyball team had some early injury troubles as it lost to Winona (3-2 overall, 2-1 Big Nine) by scores of 25-12, 25-18, 25-13 in Packer Gym Thursday.

The Packers (2-4 overall, 0-1 Big Nine) lost junior Lauryn Bell and senior Mary Willrodt to injuries in the first set.

Austin struggled on offense for much of the match.

“We struggled tonight on serve receive,” Austin head coach Cindy Owen said. “We had to play a lot of defense. We did do a very nice job of blocking.”
