Harriet E. Neubauer, 96, of Stewartville, Minnesota, formerly of Austin, died Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2016, at Stewartville Care Center.
Harriet Eleanor Kingsley was born July 28, 1920, in Spring Valley, Minnesota, to Harry and Giva (Thorsen) Kingsley. She moved to Austin as a child and graduated from Austin High School in 1938. Harriet worked at Hormel Foods for six years before becoming a full-time homemaker. On June 6, 1942, she was united in marriage to Walter Neubauer in the parsonage of Christ Episcopal Church. The couple raised three children. Walter passed away Oct. 9, 1996. Harriet enjoyed quilting and crocheting, as well as taking bus trips and volunteering at Comforcare. She was on the board of the Hormel Historic Home and was a member of the First United Methodist Church Women’s Society. She had been a member of First Methodist for over 50 years.
Harriet is survived by her children Carole Darling of Rochester, Jerry (Barbara) Neubauer of Stewartville, and Nancy (Robert) Dickerson of Rochester; eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren; cousins, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Harry and Giva Kingsley and her husband Walter Neubauer.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2016, at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Dennis Tamke officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to First United Methodist Church.
