Get to know: Abby Gogolewski, Austin swimmer

Abby Gogolewski is a senior swimmer for the Austin Packers. She competed in the state meet as a sophomore and is hoping to get back to state this year.

Q: What sports do you play?

A: Swimming and CrossFit.

Q: How did you originally get into swimming?

A: I was in sixth grade when I saw the swimming program in the Ellis year book. Nobody in my family swims, or swam, competitively like myself so I was and am proud to be the first.

Q: What’s your favorite sports memory?

A: Hands down making it to state my sophomore year

Q: What have you learned from playing sports?

A: Teamwork and hard work is one of the most important things to remember no matter what sport you’re participating in.

Q: What is the hardest part about swimming?

A: Still pushing yourself as hard as you can when you’re exhausted and want to stop

Q: Who is your biggest sports role model and why? 

A: I could say a cliche answer like Michael Phelps or Katie Ledecky, but I owe a large portion of my drive, my dedication, and my success to my parents. They support me so much and it gives me that extra push to keep working hard and perform my absolute best.

Q: What is your favorite movie or TV show?

A: I adore any horror movies

Q: What is your favorite subject in school?

A: English/Writing.

Q: What is your dream job?

A: To be the best massage therapist.

Q: What is your favorite food?

A: Ice cream!

Q: What are your plans after high school?

A: To receive my Massage Therapy degree and live with my best friend Summer.

Q: What’s a fun fact about you or hobby you enjoy most people don’t know about?

A: I like collecting little things I find from traveling or random places.

Q: What are your top three pump songs before a big game?

A: I usually just play the Crossfit Pulse playlist on Spotify and use that to get ready for a race.

Q: What are your top three guilty pleasure songs?

A: Any song by Meghan Trainor, honestly.
