The Hayfield volleyball team had a big test, and it came a little short as it lost 20-25, 15-25, 25-17, 25-19, 16-14 to Waterville-Elysian-Morristown (11-1 overall) in Hayfield Monday.

Kate Kruger had 12 kills for the Vikings (7-2 overall) and Emily Sprau added 11 kills.

“It was a great match-up between two state ranked teams,” Hayfield head coach Jeremy Struck said. “It went back and forth with the two teams taking momentum away from each other. It was a strong showing, but we came up a little short tonight.”
