Austin Just for Kix Dance Director gets local youth ready to ‘Take a Power Trip’

BRAINERD—Marny Rohr attended the 2016 Just For Kix annual convention with over 165 Just For Kix Youth Program Directors from Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, Texas, Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin, Colorado, Oregon, Washington and South Dakota. The 2016 Directors Convention was held at Forestview Middle School and The Legacy at Cragun’s Resort July 31-Aug. 2.

During the convention, the 35th anniversary of Just For Kix was celebrated with photos and videos from the past 35 years, a tribute to founder and CEO, Cindy Clough, as well as special dance performances by her current dancers.

Austin’s Marny Rohr has been the Austin Just For Kix Director for 22 years and was awarded a TEAM service award for her commitment and dedication to her JFK program. Marny has also been a Field Coordinator with for Just For Kix for 22 years and over-sees all JFK programs in southern Minnesota and northern Iowa.

“It is always an amazing experience going to a Just For Kix convention. The company prides itself on staying current on teaching techniques and motivation so every year it is packed full of new ideas,” Rohr said. “This year we are rolling out our new preschool curriculum called Tutu Tots. I can’t wait to share it with parents and dancers.”

Other area Directors in attendance were Bizzy Thompson for Blooming Prairie, Rachel Dublin for Hayfield, Laura Perez for Grand Meadow, Carrie Murphy for Adams and Amanda Power for St Ansgar.

The convention offered multiple educational and programming classes to assist in furthering the Director’s dance curriculum and sessions on resources for program development.
