Austin Public Schools will have three four-year terms open for the School Board election this November. The filing period for this election is Aug. 2 to 16.
At 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Superintendent David Krenz and School Board Chair Angie Goetz will conduct an informational session for anyone interested in learning more about the important role and duties of a school board member. The meeting will be held in the district office for those interested in filing for the election. Enter through door three on the north side of Austin High School and look for signs directing to the conference room.
In April, Austin Public Schools voted 4-1 to do away with primaries and instead have all candidates on the ballot in November elections. Previously, if more than six people had filed, the district would have run a primary.
The board will have three seats up this year, those of Don Leathers, Mary Jane Kestner and Richard Lees.
Call the Superintendent’s Office at 460-1900 with any questions.
