ST. PAUL — Employees of HealthPartners tried to save a colleague struck by a minivan in a crosswalk near a St. Paul clinic, but the woman died at the scene of the accident.
HealthPartners says the woman worked at Regions Hospital, which is less than a mile from the clinic. A statement from the health care provider says grief counselors will be assisting the woman’s colleagues.
Police say the victim was crossing at a controlled intersection when she was hit by a minivan about 4 p.m. Tuesday after leaving work. Authorities say the minivan driver showed no signs of impairment and was cooperating with investigators.
The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports St. Paul has recorded at least 65 crashes between vehicles and pedestrians this year. Three have been fatal.
