Best Bets: Food and fathers fill up weekend

Celebrate Father’s Day weekend with a variety of activities, from golf tournaments to lunches dedicated to dad. The weekend offers plenty of options to not only fill up your weekend, but to fill up your stomach.
1. Father’s Day Lunch
Noon on Friday at the Mower County Senior Center
The Mower County Seniors Center will celebrate dads with a lunch. Food will include ham or roast beef, mashed potatoes and gravy, mixed vegetables, and dessert. Cost for meal is $8.50 for members, and $9.50 for non-members. Call 507-433-2370 to reserve a spot, or stop by the front desk of the Senior Center.
2. Ryan Gordon Memorial Golf Tournament and Silent Auction
Tournament starts at noon Saturday at the Cedar River Golf Course in Adams
This four-person, best-shot tournament is held in memory of Ryan Gordon, who passed away from stomach cancer in 2011. Cost per player is $50 and includes a hamburger meal after the tournament. The meal starts at 3:30 p.m. Non-golfers can pay a donation of $10 for a meal. All proceeds will be donated to The Hormel Institute. 3. VFW Spam and Pancakes
9 a.m.-noon Saturday at the VFW Post 1216 in Austin
The Veterans of Foreign Wars club will host a breakfast with Spam, pancakes and eggs. Free will donations are accepted and will be given to the Hastings Veterans Home for arts and crafts.
4. Mower County Breakfast on the Farm
7:30-11 a.m. Saturday at Gene Anderson’s Farm, 30111 620th Ave. Waltham
This annual event returns to give people a taste of life on the farm. Enjoy a country breakfast featuring pancakes, sausage, milk, juice and coffee. Other activities will include farm tours, a petting zoo, horse-drawn carriage rides and more. Cost is $3 per person or $12 for a family rate. Kids ages 6 and under are free.
5. Minnesota Wild Wells Fargo Road Tour
1-1:30 p.m. Saturday at Packer Arena, 601 Seventh St. NE
Meet Minnesota Wild hockey players Ryan Carter and Nate Prosser, former player Keith Ballard and play-by-play announcer Anthony Lapanta.
6. Cowboy Church Event
3 p.m. Sunday at the Lion’s Park
This event is held by the International Word Fellowship Church and He Reigns. Hot dogs, chips and drinks will be served after local musicians feature gospel music and a message from Bonnie Prestegard with her miniature horse. For more information, contact Pastor Ray Tuck at 507-481-6967.
