The Austin softball team lost its eighth straight game to close out the regular season as it dropped a pair of contests in Todd Park Thursday.
Austin fell to Northfield (9-9 overall) 7-0 and it lost to Rochester Century (11-7 overall) 3-0.

The Packers (4-15 overall) mustered just eight hits on the day and they drew just two walks. Austin head coach Al Eckmann has moved the lineup around, but the team still hasn’t been able to generate a lot of offense as of late.
“It varies every day. Some people get some that they drive and some people don’t,” Eckmann said. “We’re tying to get some speed to the top of the order.”
Northfield scored three runs in the top of the first to take an early lead and Century scored a run in the top of the third to go up 1-0. Austin’s Hannah Rasmussen held the Raiders four runs in the last six innings and Brooke Pazurek allowed just three runs in seven innings against the Panthers.
Austin will open the double elimination Section 1AAA tournament Tuesday.
“We played better,” Eckmann said. “We’ve just got to keep getting better and now it’s tournament time.”
