A man was robbed early Monday morning when he was walking down a street and listening to headphones.
At about 3:35 a.m., Austin police officers responded to the intersection of Eighth Street and 11th Avenue Northeast to a robbery report.
The victim said he was walking home, had headphones in and was listening to music when two black men approached him from behind and punched his right cheek, according to Police Chief Brian Krueger. The victim fell to the ground and the two males continued to punch him.
He said they took his phone and threw it across the street. They also took his wallet and then ran off.
The victim’s wallet was found a few hours later by police at the intersection of Ninth Street and 11th Avenue Northeast. An unknown amount of money was missing from the wallet, Krueger said.
The victim described one suspect as thin, clean shaven and wearing a red shirt and dark jeans. The other was described as skinny, short hair and wearing an orange shirt and dark jeans.
