Baseball: Winhawks beat Packers with a walk-off hit

The Austin baseball team lost a heartbreaker by a score of 5-4 to Winona (7-7 overall) on the road Tuesday.

The Packers (7-7 overall) held a 4-3 lead going into the bottom of the seventh inning, but Winona scored two unearned runs on a two-out double to win the game.

“When you give a team 25 outs in a 21 out game, you’re chances of winning aren’t good. We did not make the routine plays that counted tonight and it cost us the game,” Austin head coach Chris Gogolewski said. “This game could have put us in a very good position to finish the regular season, now we’ve got our work to cut out for us.”
