Baseball: Packers fall to Red Wing, will play Albert Lea Tuesday

The No. 6 seeded Austin baseball team lost to Red Wing for the third time this season when it managed just three hits in a 3-0 loss to the top seeded Wingers in the Section 1AAA semifinals in Red Wing Monday.

Austin began the day by beating Albert Lea 6-4 in Red Wing and it will play at No. 3 Albert Lea in an elimination game 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Alex Ciola held the Wingers to just two earned runs, but the Packers couldn’t find any offense.

“Their pitcher kept us off balanced all game,” Austin head coach Chris Gogolewski said. “It was a good pitchers dual.”

Nate Conner picked up the pitching win against AL as he struck out seven.
