Pacelli will induct six new Hall of Fame members June 17

The Pacelli booster club will induct six new members to the Pacelli Hall of Fame at a dinner on Pacelli golf day June 17.

The new inductees are Ken Combs, class of 1949, Marty Crowe, a former teacher and coach, Mike Baudoin, class of 1972, Al Heimer, class of 1981, Sue King, class of 1982, and Steve Rogen, class of 1992.

Ken Combs, class of 1949

Combs, who is deceased, was the quarterback of the 1948 Pacelli football team, which went undefeated and he played in two state tournaments with the Pacelli baseball team.

Combs was on the 1949 Pacelli baseball team that took second at state, he played college baseball at St. Thomas College and he was signed by the St. Louis Cardinals, where he played for several years in their minor league organization.

In 1998, Combs was inducted into the American Legion Hall of Fame.

Marty Crowe

Crowe taught and coached football, basketball and baseball at Pacelli in the 1950s. Crowe coached the 1958 Pacelli basketball team to the independent schools state championship and in 1959 he led Pacelli to a third place finish in the national tournament in Washington, D.C.

Before he came to Pacelli, Crowe coached his team to the Catholic schools state championship in 1947 and 1948 and he led Marinette, Wis. to state titles in 1959 and 1964.

Crowe was named to the Wisconsin basketball coaches Hall of Fame in 1982 and he was named to the Wisconsin football coaches Hall of Fame in 1996.

Mike Baudoin, class of 1972

Baudoin was an all-conference football and basketball player at Pacelli and he made the All-State independent school team in 1972.

Baudoin, who went on to be a three-sport standout at Rochester Community College, made the WCCO All-State football team and the 1972 All state tournament team in basketball.

Al Heimer, class of 1981

Heimer was the quarterback on the MSHSL Class B State runner-up football team in 1980 and he was named all-conference and all-state honorable mention that season.

Heimer was also a two-year letter winner in basketball and a four-year letter winner in baseball, where he was a three-time all conference player.

Heimer made the Class A all-state team and he played in the Lions All-Star game in 1981.

Sue King, class of 1982

King played in three state tournaments for Pacelli — in 1979, which was Pacelli’s first state tournament team, in 1980, when Pacelli was runner up and finished 25-1, and in 1981, when Pacelli finished third.

King went on to play basketball at Gustavus College.

Steve Rogne, class of 1992

Rogne was a two-time letter winner for the Austin-Pacelli football team, he was a two-time All conference basketball player for Pacelli and a four-year letter winner and three-time all conference tennis player for Pacelli.

In basketball, Rogen was on the 1992 state championship team, where he averaged 25 points per game at state and made the all tournament team. Rogne went on to play basketball at St. John’s University.

In football, Rogne had nine sacks his senior year to lead the Big Nine and he made the All Big Nine team in 1991.

In tennis, Rogne competed in the state meet in 1992.
