Noon Kiwanis Student of April: Hannah Nelson
Noon Kiwanis Student of the Month for April, Pacelli High School.
My academic achievements include being on the honor roll and the national honor society and receiving academic all conference. Throughout high school, I have been in basketball, volleyball, cross country, and track. Along with sports, I enjoy partaking in the arts such as choir and theater. In the community, I have volunteered at the nursing home and at Pacelli affiliated events such as Christmas tree pickup and the spaghetti dinners.
My favorite high school memory happened last summer on a class trip to Europe when my friend and I and a chaperone got separated from our tour group after the subway doors closed on us and we had to find our way back to our group with only a flimsy map that none of us could figure out.
A person who has had a positive impact on my academic life is my AP History teacher and track coach, Mr. Thauwauld. He stresses the importance of being a student before an athlete while also being relatable and aware of the other stresses of being a teen. He knows how to push me to the best of my abilities and also make the day enjoyable.
My future plans are to attend the University of Northern Iowa and major in elementary education with a minor in dietetics.
