The Hayfield baseball team opened its season with a solid defensive effort as it topped Lake City 4-1 on the road Monday.
The Vikings (1-0 overall) committed zero errors and starting pitcher Aaron Younge allowed just five hits to get the win. Adam Fjerstad, who was two-for-three with a double and two RBIs, struck out the last two batters of the game to get the save.
“It was nice to play an error free game,” Hayfield head coach Kasey Krekling said. “Having zero errors in the first game you can’t ask for anything better than that.”
