ST. PAUL — The man charged with fatally shooting a law clerk in a St. Paul office is due in court.
Prosecutors say they will ask for bail of $1.5 million when Ryan Petersen appears in Ramsey County District Court Monday afternoon. The 37-year-old defendant is accused of killing Chase Passauer.
The 23-year-old Minneapolis man was working at North Star Criminal Defense Thursday when he was shot a half-dozen times. Authorities say Petersen was unhappy with how a lawyer at the firm was handling a previous case.
Two attorneys returned to the office above the popular W.A. Frost & Co. restaurant in the historic Cathedral Hill neighborhood and found Passauer had been shot.
Passauer’s father says his son planned to attend the University of Minnesota Law School.
