ST. PAUL — Minnesota Public Radio and the Metropolitan Council have reached a settlement that gives MPR $3.5 million to deal with the noise and vibration from light rail trains at its downtown St. Paul studios.
Jon McTaggart is CEO of MPR’s parent company, American Public Media Group. McTaggart says the settlement allows the company to replace equipment, invest in additional sound and vibration mitigation and find alternative studio locations.
MPR says the settlement terminates a 2009 mitigation agreement that called for a $1 million “floating slab” as the foundation for the Green Line train tracks.
