The Noon Kiwanis Club of Austin pledged $4,000 to the Woodson Kindergarten Center greenhouse in November 2015, helping secure a more permanent structure, made of fiber glass instead of a tarp, which will allow students to use the structure all year long.

The structure was being put up by volunteers but was delayed by the holidays and cold weather.

The Kiwanis Club presented the check to Woodson Tuesday. They raised the money through a raffle ticket fundraiser last year, and decided to donate to Woodson’s greenhouse after Principal Jessica Cabeen talked about what they hope to accomplish with the hands-on learning.

The new greenhouse is still in pieces, but organizers hope to be finished with it in spring. Photos by Jenae Hackensmith/ jenae.hackensmith@austindailyherald.com
