Clark E. “Nick,” Braden, 89, of St. Petersburg, Florida, passed away on Feb. 28, 2016.
Nick was born on Feb. 21, 1927, to the late Merle and Dorothy (Pike) Braden in Waterloo, Iowa. He graduated from West Waterloo High School in 1945. Following high school he enlisted in the United States Navy serving proudly in World War II. Upon his discharge, Nick attended Union College in Schenectady, New York, where he received his Bachelors Degree in Economics. One of his proudest moments was participating in an Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. He also looked forward to his Tuesday morning breakfast with his fellow veterans.
Nick worked many years in real estate as a broker before opening Braden Appraisals. He was a past president of the Austin Lions Club, in Austin, Minnesota. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge, the Austin Country Club, and a volunteer with the Egmont Key Alliance.
He loved fishing, hunting, golf, and spending time at Leech Lake in Minnesota. Nick had a great sense of humor and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Nick was a member of Pass-A-Grille Beach Community Church.
Nick is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Virginia “Ginnie” Braden; son, Richard Paul Braden of Cleveland, Ohio; daughter, Jodi Ann Bolinger and husband, Richard of Albert Lea, Minnesota; sister, Kay Roudon of Palo Alto, California; granddaughter, Sarah Braden, who is currently serving with the Peace Corps in Mozambique, Africa; and many special friends.
