Get ready for a talent-packed weekend. With the Austin High School talent show, a great pancake breakfast showcasing robotic skills and some theater, there’s something for everyone this weekend.

1. Variety / Talent Show

6:30 p.m. Thursday, Knowlton Auditorium, Austin High School

There are 15 acts this year from all over the district, so don’t miss the student talent of Austin. Tickets are $5 at the door. Children and students are $3. Donations will be accepted.

2. Autism Awareness – Art and Music for Autism

6-8:30 p.m. Friday, Hormel Historic Home

The event starts with a 6 p.m. social hour, and painting begins at 7 p.m. Entertainment and instruction will be from Jesse Smith, who will teach guests how to use watercolors to create a beautiful atmospheric perspective. Cost is $25 per person and includes hors d’oeuvres, entertainment and painting instruction.

Participants will leave with an art piece that can be framed. Proceeds will benefit the local autism programming, and a cash bar will be available. For more information, call 507-433-4243.

3. Pancake breakfast

9 a.m.-12 p.m. Saturday, Austin Masonic Lodge

The I.J. Holton robotics teams will demonstrate their robots as team members wait tables for tips to raise money for their upcoming competitions. The teams will also sell T-shirts and accept donations. The three teams need a combined total of $24,000 to attend the U.S. Nationals and the World Championships and are currently at about $16,000. The pancake breakfast cost $5 for all-you-can-eat, and kids ages 4 and under are free. The menu includes pancakes, bacon, sausage, coffee, milk, juice, and eggs are available for $.50 per egg. 4. Saturday Stories with Matchbox Children’s Theatre

10:30 a.m.-12 p.m. Saturday, Austin Public Library

Visit with Matchbox Children’s Theatre and join in activities like stories read by characters from the play “Story Stew: A Fairy Tale Revue.” Stories will begin at 10:30, 11 and 11:30 a.m. There will also be music, art, and craft projects, and every family will receive a free book. This program is sponsored by the Austin Literacy Initiative.

5. Shamrockin’ Run 5K Run/Walk and 1 Mile Fun Walk

2-3 p.m. Saturday, Pacelli High School

Come run this Saturday. Day of race registration is $25 for youth/student and $100 for family. Registration forms and additional information can be found at Pacelli High School or www.pacellischools.org. Awards will go to the top three finishers, male and female in each age category. A post-race party will be hosted by the B & J with one free beverage ticket provided with bib.
