The Austin wrestling team advanced three wrestlers to the semifinals at the Section 1AAA meet in Mayo Civic Center in Rochester Friday.

Austin’s Phillip Zynda, Isaac Arjes and Eli Kaercher all advanced with a big win.

Zynda got the the semifinals by pinning Riley Norton of Northfield with 29 seconds left in his match at 160 pounds, Arjes advanced to the 195 semis by beating Jared Stewart 13-0 and Kaercher advanced to the 285 semifinals by pinning Dirk Umbanhowar of Northfield in the first period.

At 138 pounds, Austin’s Aiden Wilson lost to Bryan Scavone in the quarterfinals, but he won with a pin to stay alive in the wrestlebacks. Tad Belden lost to Rochester Mayo’s Aaron McKinley in the quarterfinals on a tech. fall and he stayed alive with a pin in the wrestlebacks.
