RED WING — A trademark infringement lawsuit filed by the Red Wing Stoneware factory against a group of stoneware collectors has been settled.
Factory owner Bruce Johnson says the settlement ensures that the Red Wing Collectors Society Foundation will abide by terms that prohibit it from using his company’s name. Collectors Society president Dave Hallstrom says they’re pleased the issue has been resolved.
Johnson tells the Star Tribune he was the target of personal threats and vendettas from unnamed stone collectors. He closed his retail store on Main Street in Red Wing and will list it for sale or lease.
His lawsuit alleged seven counts of trademark infringement and unfair competition and asked for damages and attorney’s fees.
