Byron ‘Arvid’ Neus

Arvid was born on a farm near Adams, Minnesota, on July 5, 1938. He graduated from Adams High School. Arvid and Nancy (Jensen) Neus were married on Nov. 24, 1962. Arvid had many occupations over the years, including farming and construction. He retired after 12 years as grounds foreman at the Rochester Golf and Country Club. Arvid loved bowhunting, waterfowling in North Dakota and Canada with his son Marty, spending time with his many dogs, bowling, golfing, camping and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He also loved the hunt of going to auctions to find “good deals” on Red Wing crocks and more. Arvid and Nancy were blessed with seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. The couple enjoyed vacationing in Alaska, driving most of the western states to see friends and experience the country. They followed in Nancy’s parents’ (Dean and Agnes Jensen) retirement plans, wintering in Mesa, Arizona, for the last 15 years. Arvid was very proud of his 40-plus years of sobriety and was very grateful that this allowed him to flourish and experience many of life’s joys.

Arvid is survived by his wife Nancy of Austin, Minnesota; his children, Mike (Carmen) Neus of Mankato, Minnesota, Michelle Wilkie (Carl Palma) of Green Bay, Wisconsin, Marty (Beth) Neus of Saint Paul, Minnesota; his sister Ardith Klouse of Mason City, Iowa; and many nephews and nieces that he would torment with his kidding.
