Phil was on target? Groundhog’s prediction looks better as thaw arrives

It looks like Austin and Mower County are on the cusp of an early thaw.
But it might be a bit hard to enjoy the warm weather on Friday.
While temperatures are building to a weekend that will have many dreaming of that early spring Punxsutawney Phil promised earlier this month, a blustery Friday could make it hard to enjoy the warm weather.
Despite a high near 50 degrees on Friday, The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory for 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, when sustained winds will reach 20 to 30 mph or higher and gusts could top 45 mph.
Saturday and Sunday will see highs in the low 40s with a sunny, clear day on Saturday with mostly cloudy conditions and a chance of rain on Sunday.
A February melt looks likely, as www.weather.com projects temperatures largely above freezing through March 3 with several of those days seeing highs in the low to mid-40s.
