MINNEAPOLIS — Presidential hopeful Marco Rubio is putting an emphasis on Minnesota in his quest for the Republican nomination.
The Florida senator visited Minneapolis Tuesday for a fundraiser. He was joined by his new Minnesota campaign team, including a slew of millennial GOP political operatives.
Minnesota is one of 10 states holding presidential voting on March 1, a date dubbed Super Tuesday. Rubio is one of several candidates who have visited Minnesota since state party officials moved up the caucus.
Rubio said that gives the state a larger role in deciding the nomination. He says he’s the only candidate who can appeal to Republican voters new and old.
Spokesman Alex Conant says the campaign has spent months organizing in Minnesota. He says Rubio will return before the March 1 voting.
