Irene Tapp, 99, of Grand Meadow, Minnesota, formerly of LeRoy, Minnesota, passed away Monday, Jan. 18, 2016, at the Grand Meadow Healthcare Center in Grand Meadow, Minnesota.

Irene Gladys Schroeder was born May 25, 1916, in Austin, Minnesota, to Henry and Esther (Hansen) Schroeder. She was a graduate from the Austin High School in Austin, Minnesota. On Oct. 20, 1937, Irene was united in marriage to Lloyd Tapp at the St. Johns parsonage in Elkton, Minnesota. Together they farmed in the Mower County area for many years. After 30 years of living in LeRoy, Minnesota, Irene and Lloyd moved to the Meadows Assisted Living in Grand Meadow, Minnesota. Irene enjoyed reading, traveling throughout the United States, taking several trips to Europe, and keeping a daily journal on her calendar.

Irene is survived by her children: Alan (Penny) Tapp of Highland, Ohio, Donald (Karen) Tapp of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Verdell (Micky) Tapp of Apple Valley, Minnesota; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and sister, Dorothy Mullenbach of Rochester, Minnesota.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Esther; and husband, Lloyd on Oct. 7, 2007.

Funeral services for Irene Tapp will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 21, 2016, at the LeRoy Lutheran Church in LeRoy, Minnesota, with Pastor Herman Bakker officiating. Burial will take place in the church cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
