The area can see the light at the end of the tunnel.
After temperatures reached minus 8 and wind chills reached minus 30 early this morning, a wind chill advisory expired at noon.
Austin’s high was expected to reach only about minus one Tuesday and then temperatures should drop to minus 10 with wind chills around minus 23 overnight.
But then Wednesday’s high in the low 20s and high of 30 on Thursday will break a cold stretch that saw temperatures below zero for much of the weekend and saw temperatures reach minus 18 on Monday morning.
Austin and much of the area also saw a dusting of snow Monday that made for slick conditions.
Though highs should stick in the 20s and 30s from Wednesday through Friday, temperatures will again dip to lows of about minus 6 Saturday night and minus 11 on Sunday.
