About a month after a woman didn’t report a spare key taken from her vehicle, she found her SUV stolen.
The Austin Police Department responded to a report of a stolen vehicle Friday morning at 6:10 a.m. at the 900 block of Fifth Avenue Northeast. The victim told officers that she had left the vehicle unlocked and a GPS unit and a spare ignition key were stolen about a month ago, but she did not file a report.
Police Chief Brian Krueger said the vehicle is a 2001 red Dodge Durango with the Minnesota license plate 596-GDW.
The victim told officers she last saw the vehicle at about 5:30 p.m. last night. At 5:15 this morning, it was gone.
There are no suspects at this time. If anyone should see the vehicle, they are encouraged to call law enforcement at 437-9400 or can provide tips through the Austin Police Department’s online anonymous app, Tip411 under austinpd. Tips can also be sent by text at 847-411.
