Darrel LeMar Iverson, 80, of Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, died Thursday, Jan. 28, 2016, at his home.

Darrel was born June 11, 1935, in Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, the son of Irwin and Ruth (Boysen) Iverson. He attended Blooming Prairie Schools. Darrel enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1952, and served as an airman during his tour in France. He also earned his GED before he was honorably discharged in 1956. He was united in marriage to Sandra Christensen on June 4, 1965. Over the years Darrel was employed with various area companies including, Red Cedar Inn of Austin, Weyerhauser of Austin, Hayward Lumber of Hayward, Gordon Electric of Austin, Associated Grocers of Blooming Prairie, and in 2003 retired from Truth Hardware of Owatonna. He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie, and the Blooming Prairie American Legion Post No. 52. Darrel had a life-long interest in cars, and also enjoyed playing cards, shooting pool, and bowling.

Darrel is survived by his wife Sandra of Blooming Prairie, Minnesota; children: Todd of Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, Susan Steen of Austin, Minnesota, Cindy (Rick) Jensen of Owatonna, Minnesota, Brian (Sara) of Austin, Minnesota; brothers: Lyle Iverson of Randlett, Oklahoma, Irwin Jr. (Judy) Iverson of Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, Larry Iverson of Rochester, Minnesota; grandchildren: Christopher, Ashley, Gabriel, Josh, Dana, Corey, Sage, Taryn; three great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents Irwin and Ruth Iverson; daughter Tammy; sister Darlean (Richard) Magee; and brother Rodney Iverson.

A private service will be held at the Worlein Blooming Prairie Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Iverson officiating. There will be no visitation. Interment will be at First Lutheran Church Cemetery, Blooming Prairie. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred by the family.
