In addition to the two burglaries that kicked off the new year, another one was reported on at 9:32 a.m. Monday.
A black purse was reported stolen out of an unlocked 2007 Honda Odyssey on the 400 block of Third Street Southeast, according to Police Chief Brian Krueger. The victim said the purse contained two black wallets that held a driver’s license, social security card and other information about her children. There was no value listed for the purse, Krueger said.
No suspects have been identified or described.
Two burglaries were previously reported over the holiday weekend, including one on the 800 block of Second Avenue Northeast and one on the 800 block of 11th Avenue Southwest
“Citizens need to lock their vehicles,” Krueger said. “It’s winter and people like to warm up their vehicles but they should do it on private property or have a secondary key to warm up their car. It’s an open invitation for someone to take a car.”
It was not stated if the victim for Monday’s theft was warming up her car or did not lock it.
