The Austin girls basketball team used a second half push to beat Red Wing (3-4 overall, 3-2 Big Nine) 69-52 on the road Tuesday.
The Packers (3-2 overall, 3-2 Big Nine) were clinging to a four point lead in the second half when Ruth Koang returned into the game after sitting with foul trouble. Koang, who had 10 points and 16 rebounds, helped ignite a Packer rally that saw Ashley Hawkshead connect on a couple of three-pointers.
Shayley Vesel had 26 points and 11 rebounds for Austin in the win, and the Packers also had a few other players step up.
“Amber [Hansen], Kelsey [Sederquest] and Jaidyn [Bastian] played big minutes and they helped us maintain the lead in the first half,” Austin head coach Todd Johnson said.
