Club recognitions

—Mckenzie Besel, a junior biology education major from Austin, is a member of the Biology Club at Southwest Minnesota State University for the 2015-2016 academic year. The Biology Club hopes to provide a variety of recreational, academic, and co-curricular experiences for all students interested in biology. The club provides field trips to research labs, teaching hospitals, and industrial complexes. Activities include providing educational activities for children, trips to zoos and museums, cleaning of the SMSU Wildlife area on campus, and various social events such as the biology vs. chemistry bowling match up.

 Donations

The Riverland Community College Radiography students raised $250 to give to the Riverland Foundation Pay It Forward program. The money goes towards students who are in need of a little extra money during their time at Riverland. This holiday season, Riverland students are wishing for:

—$50 buys gas to travel to class

—$75 buys part-time child care for one week

—$100 buys one textbook

—$550 buys three-credit class tuition

—$750 covers half of on-campus housing for one semester

—$1,500 purchases tools for an Auto Service Technology student

 Honor’s List

—Lila Johnson from Austin was named to the Milwaukee School of Engineering for the 2015 Fall Quarter Honors List. Johnson is pursuing a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Civil Engineering.
