Commissioners freeze their own salaries again
The Mower County board approved 2016 raises for all elected officials except themselves.
On Tuesday, the board unanimously voted to raise the salaries of the county attorney, sheriff, recorder and auditor-treasurer while keeping their own commissioner salary at the $24,200 level originally set in 2008.
Commissioner Polly Glynn, who serves on the finance committee, praised all the elected officials for willingness to work with other departments and teamwork.
She praised County Attorney Kristen Nelsen for “exemplary performance,” Sheriff Terese Amazi for her leadership, Recorder Jill Cordes and her office for their willingness to take on additional duties, and Auditor-Treasurer Steve Reinartz for exemplary team work and efforts to consolidate financial functions.
The rounded salary increases:
—County Attorney Kristen Nelsen: $106,143 to $109,327.
—Sheriff Terese Amazi: $96,731 to $99,633.
—Recorder Jill Cordes: $61,177 to $65,929.
—Auditor-Treasurer Steve Reinartz: $56,413 to $58,106.
