On Monday, the Austin City Council is slated to discuss a two-year agreement for Hormel Foods Corp.’s sanitary wastewater services with the city of Austin.
The council will consider approving a new Individual Control Mechanism (or ICM) agreement that sets limitations and conditions to monitors wastewater output from Hormel, including things like flow, strength or water discharge, suspend solids, nitrogen and pH. If approved, the agreement would expire Dec. 31, 2017.
The council meets at 5:30 p.m. Monday in the council chambers in the basement of City Hall, 500 Fourth Ave. NE.
In February, the council approved a new ICM agreement with Hormel after Public Works Director Steven Lang’s office discovered the meter is off slightly at the station where the flow is monitored.
The city is also expected to discuss a similar wastewater agreement with G&R Truck Wash.
The City Council will also discuss increasing wages for seasonal, temporary and part-time employees to reflect the $9.50 an hour minimum hike that takes effect Aug. 1, 2016; however, starting pay is based on the position’s level and the position.
