Smyth Companies has acquired Paper and Graphics Printing Inc. of Rochester.
Smyth intends to maintain the Paper and Graphics storefront in Rochester and to operate there under the Paper and Graphics name for the immediate future.
Paper and Graphics is a quick-turn commercial print company established by the Fields family of Rochester in 1968. Steve and Tim Fields will stay on to help with the transition.
“Smyth Companies is excited to have a presence in Rochester,” said William Hickey, one of Smyth’s owners, in a press release. “Smyth will provide a host of new products and services to Paper and Graphics’ customers and to the communities of southeastern Minnesota.”
There are seven full-time employees and all of them will be retained under the new business arrangement. Smyth operates a commercial print facility in Austin, and the acquisition will fit nicely within the company’s current product offerings in the commercial market, company officials said.
In addition to the Austin Commercial location, Smyth Companies has production locations in Minneapolis; Bedford, Virginia; Wilmington, Massachusetts; Green Bay, Wisconsin; and Golden, Colorado.
Smyth’s corporate headquarters is in St. Paul. The company’s primary products are printing and packaging for the consumer packaged goods market. Smyth was founded in 1877 and employs 480 people.
