Raymond George Hemann, 95, of Adams, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2015.
Raymond was born Aug. 26, 1920, in Meyer, Iowa, to Joseph and Dorothy (Smith) Hemann. He attended Catholic School in Meyer. He married Beatrice Gerhart on June 4, 1946, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Johnsburg, Minnesota.
Together they farmed on Beatrice’s family dairy farm near Johnsburg for over 40 years until their retirement in 1985, when they moved into Adams where they enjoyed the next 30 years together.
Raymond was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church and later Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
He enjoyed fishing and hunting, particularly fox hunting. Over the years in retirement, Raymond and Beatrice enjoyed traveling together which included vacationing in Canada, Hawaii, Alaska and Europe. Raymond enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and he especially loved to have slumber parties and to play cards with them.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Dorothy Hemann; brothers: Cletus, John, Robert, and Arthur; and his beloved daughter, Sharon age 8.
Raymond is survived by his wife and loving companion of 69 years, Beatrice Hemann, Adams, Minnesota; children: Ronald (Bonnie) Hemann, Owatonna, Minnesota, Janice (Julian) Bergstrom, Plymouth, Minnesota, Elaine (Thomas) May, Rochester, Minnesota, Marvin Hemann, Glendale, Arizona, Audrey (Steven) Schroeder, Adams, Minnesota, Mary (Steven) Maiers, Fairmont, Minnesota, Jerome (Roxan) Hemann, Byron, Minnesota, Daryl (Judy) Hemann, Kasson, Minnesota; 18 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sisters: Sister Mary Kenneth Hemann, Dubuque, Iowa, Angela Werner, Osage, Iowa, Theresa (George) Theis, Manly, Iowa; brother: Kenneth (Ann) Hemann, St. Ansgar, Iowa; nieces, nephews and many friends.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 14, 2015, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Adams with Father Swaminatha Pothireddy officiating. Interment will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Adams Funeral Home on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. with a Rosary at 4:30 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will also be on Saturday at the Adams Funeral Home from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
