The Hayfield boys basketball team had a rough go out of the blocks Friday night, losing to Maple River 66-38 at home.
Down early, the Vikings were able to put a run on behind four three-pointers — two each from Adam and Aaron Young — that cut the deficit to 43-30 in the latter half of the second, but that’s where it ended as Maple River responded with an 11-0 run.
“That was our biggest problem,” head coach Chris Pack said. “We just didn’t shoot real well. We just went cold.”
Hayfield will host Cannon Falls at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
