Richard “Dick” Clyde Green, 70, of Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, died Saturday afternoon, Oct. 31, 2015, at the Owatonna Hospital.

Richard ‘Dick’ Clyde Green, 70

He was born March 25, 1945, in Braham, Minnesota, the son of Ron and Lucille (Thomann) Green. He attended school in Ellendale, Minnesota, graduating in 1963. On June 26, 1965, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Plunkett at St. Columbanus Catholic Church in Blooming Prairie, Minnesota. From 1966 to 1970, Richard served with the United States Air Force, attaining the rank of Sergeant. After his discharge, the couple returned to Blooming Prairie, where Richard continued his employment with Farmstead Foods in Albert Lea. After the plant closed, Richard worked for Arkema in Blooming Prairie for 10 years, at Prairie Manor Nursing Home, and for a few years as a custodian at the Albert Lea High School, retiring in 2010. He was a member of St. Columbanus Catholic Church, where he served as a lector, and the VFW Post of Albert Lea, Minnesota. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, playing “500” and woodworking. He was a faithful fan of the Minnesota Twins and Minnesota Vikings.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Green of Blooming Prairie; four sons: Jeff (Nadia) Green of Guam, Brian (Jennifer) Green of Rochester, Chad (Jodi) Green of Blooming Prairie, and Cory (Lisa) Green of Alden; 14 grandchildren: Matt, Hayley, Christian, Brianna, Casaundra, Alexandra, Colton, Annika, Lukas, Anthony, Dakota, Zach, Bryce and Ericka; as well as many other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Ron and Lucille; and one brother, Galen.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2015, at St. Columbanus Catholic Church with Father Tom Niehaus, officiating. Interment will follow the luncheon at the Geneva Cemetery with Military Honors by American Legion Post 52 and VFW Post 878 of Blooming Prairie. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2015, at the Worlein – Blooming Prairie Funeral Home in Blooming Prairie and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
