More than a thousand Hormel Foods Corp. plant employees are voting today on an amended workers contract after voting down a proposal last month.
Throughout negotiations, some sticking points in the contact have included proposed scheduling changes, higher insurance deductibles and a near-site health clinic, along with other healthcare changes, according to reports and a copy of the contract obtained by the Herald.
Hormel had said the deal with its roughly 1,500 bargaining unit employees at the Austin plant.
“Hormel Foods appreciates and respects the efforts of all its employees, both past and present, and we look forward to reaching a mutually satisfactory agreement,” Hormel wrote in a statement.
Representatives with the United Food & Commercial Workers Union could not be reached for comment.
