Post 91’s season ends; Austin loses 5-2 to Wayzata Saturday, 12-4 to Chanhassen Sunday at state

EDINA — The Austin Post 91 Legion baseball team saw its season come to a close Sunday in the Division I Minnesota State Tournament in a 12-4 loss to Chanhassen.

Alex Ciola notched three hits and a run batted in in the loss. Dylan Gasner and Ethan Horstmann each had two hits in four at bats, and Horstmann added an RBI. Jason Stoulil and Nate Conner also had RBIs.

Austin had nine hits in the loss compared to Chanhassen’s 16. Chanhassen put up five runs in both the fourth and eighth innings.

On Saturday, Austin jumped out to a 2-0 lead against Wayzata with two runs in the top of the first, but Austin wouldn’t cross home plate again. Wayzata would tie the game with two in the sixth inning and took the lead with three runs in the eighth on their way to a 5-2 win.
