With rain and storms looming in the forecast, ArtWorks Festival organizers have decided to start the Dick Schindler Memorial Concert an hour earlier Saturday night.
The concert will now start at 6 p.m. at Austin’s Marcusen Park instead of the original 7 p.m.
“We’re trying to get the concert in before the weather hits if possible,” Austin Area Commission for the Arts Executive Director Jennie Knoebel.
Saturday should be sunny but breezy during the day for the Austin ArtWorks Festival. Highs will be near 83, but winds will increase to 20 to 25 mph with 37 mph gusts in the afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.
Showers and thunderstorms are expected to move into the area Saturday night, but Knoebel and organizers were optimistic since forecasts show the best chance for thunderstorms around 9 or 10 p.m.
The show’s lineup has also changed slightly. The Austin High School Jazz Band will now open the show at 6 p.m. Bissen Jacobsen Kroc will play around 6:45 p.m., followed by Alex Rossi & Root City. Marty O’Reilly & the Old Soul Orchestra will close the concert.
Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for kids ages five to 12, and free for children age four and younger.
