Law enforcement will be ready to bust speeders this weekend.

Minnesota police, sheriff’s deputies and state patrol officers will focus on speed enforcement for the next few weeks as part of the state’s Toward Zero Deaths special enforcement in July.

To that end, extra patrols will be out and about from July 10 to 26 to catch speeding vehicles, as well as other motor vehicle infractions.

“Speed is one of the biggest factors in whether or not an accident occurs and how severe it may be,” Austin Police Capt. Dave McKichan said.

The Toward Zero Deaths program is part of the state’s Department of Public Safety and is dedicated to decreasing traffic-related deaths.
