‘Packer Classic’ set for Sunday and Monday

Austin Public Education Foundation, the non-profit foundation dedicated to supporting students of Austin Public Schools, recently announced that the 18th Annual “Packer Classic” Golf Tournament and Banquet will be held on Sunday and Monday. This event, APEF’s largest annual fundraiser, hopes to raise over $20,000 to support the educational excellence of Austin Public Schools.

The banquet is from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Hormel Historic Home. This event is open to both golfers and non-golfers, and will feature alumni talent, silent auction, and dinner. Tickets are included for all golfers, and banquet-only registration is available for $50 per person.

The golf tournament is at the Austin Country Club and starts at 11am with a complimentary lunch. The tournament includes 18 holes of golf, a professionally selected goody bag, and complimentary snacks, bottled water, and sports drinks on the course. Tournament participation is $135 per golfer and includes a ticket to the Sunday night banquet.

The Austin Public Education Foundation was founded in 1990, and is a separate 501 (c) 3 non-profit corporation separate from Austin Public Schools. The sole beneficiaries of its projects are the students of Austin Public Schools. The Foundation has awarded over $400,000 in grants since its inception to over 4,000 students and the teachers who guide them. For the 2014-15 school year, $33,175 in grants was awarded for projects and programs.
