Dorothy Loretta Weis, 92, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away on Thursday, July 9, 2015, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Home in Austin.
Dorothy was born in Austin on July 22, 1922, to John Joseph and Clara Elizabeth (Enright) Walsh. She was a graduate of St. Augustine High School in 1940. Dorothy married James F. Weis on July 5, 1943, and had seven children with the love of her life of 59 years.
Dorothy was a member of Queen of Angels Catholic Church and volunteered with the rosary society and was their photographer and historian. She was a coat checker at the Terp Ballroom for several years.
She enjoyed traveling with family and friends, fishing, needle crafts and being with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Dorothy is survived by her children: Richard Weis, David Weis, James L. (Rene) Weise, Debra (Rod) Neitzel, Mary (Ernie) Kleckner, and Jane (Doran) Rupe; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband James; son Daniel; grandsons: Aaron Weis, infant Steven Weis; three sisters and three brothers.
A funeral mass will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 13, 2015, at Queen of Angels Catholic Church with Fr. Dale Tupper officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, July 12, 2015, at Mayer Funeral Home and again an hour before the funeral mass. A rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
