SAVAGE — A Minnesota woman says she survived a fall hiking at the Grand Canyon with the help of complete strangers.
Sheila McCabe fell 20 feet while hiking late last week and broke 13 bones in her body. She waited four excruciating hours for help. McCabe said she doesn’t remember falling, but she does remember the people who helped her. Without them, McCabe says, she probably would have probably gone into shock.
McCabe is grateful to be back home in Savage to celebrate her 25th wedding anniversary with her husband, Mickey. He says he’s a one-armed nurse to his wife since he too is suffering from an injury. He tore his bicep while lifting a mattress just two days before his wife’s fall.
